How To Contour

Makeup Artist Marina shows how to apply Bare Sculpt contour to enhance and add dimension and depth to your face. She wears medium shade Muse.

Contour Step By Step

Makeup artist Nadira V Persaud shows us how to break down the technique, step by step. Nadira wears Bare Sculpt in deep shade Icon.

Define cheekbones

Feel for your cheek bone with your fingers: apply your contour directly beneath it, starting near the top of the ear and stopping around the outer third of the eye.

Don't take the line all the way to the mouth, as this can pull the face down.

Define the jaw & temples

Use contour to create a tighter, cleaner jaw. Sweep Bare Sculpt along the jawline and blend. For beginners, aim to blend in side to side motions to keep the effect subtle and controllable.

Also apply Bare Sculpt at your temples, to enhance the natural dip here and add shape to the face.

As Marina shows in her video, those with high foreheads can also apply above the forehead at the hairline to add flattering dimension.

Enhance the nose

Contour can help noses look more slender, both along the nose and at the tip. This is universally considered aesthetically pleasing and can improve appearance especially on camera.

Apply a fine line of Bare Sculpt down both sides of the nose and blend, as shown by Nadira here.

You can also put contour over the bridge of the nose for a more sunkissed look.

As Marina's video shows, you can also reduce the apparent size of the tip of the nose, by adding contour above the nostrils.
